blinking against the brightness: Aulani, Oahu

I spent the last ten days on the shores of Oahu, Hawaii with my family. Tough life, as those with a searing case of false modesty might intone. And they'd (I'd) be right. I spent most of my time in the ocean or snaking around the lazy river at Aulani. Not a bad way to spend a few days, all things considered. Since I was in the water more than I was on land, I used my iPhone to do all of the image capturing on this trip, preferring raucous family card games and clocking serious hours reading Murakami to spending my usual time behind the camera.?

Here's an idea of how we Daileys do family vacation:

At left: My flea market find. And you can bet I wheedled and nitpicked and bartered them within an inch of their sanity before bagging this beaut at a respectable price.?

At right: Is this the face of a girl who'd pay asking price for that necklace? Plz.?

As typical as a vacation photo can possibly be, even in the Digital Age: Two girls, two bikes, and my aunt's thumb.?

Yes, I'm high-fiving a sea turtle. Keep a cap on your frothing jealousy, people.?

I had to employ some serious coercion to get my dad to pull over so I could get this shot. Aren't you glad you did, Pops??
